Biomass can contribute in many ways to the generation of renewable energy. On the one hand, it can be used directly to generate energy in the form of electricity and heat in power plants, the biomass power plants, or in special heating systems, the combined heat and power and the so-called pellet heating systems. On the other hand, it can also be processed into biofuel for vehicles.
The biogas is produced in biomass power plants and combustible gases are measured to ensure the safety of personnel and infrastructure. ATEX-certified gas sensors are used in particularly endangered EX zones.
