Alcohol vapors are generated in large quantities during distillation and can form an explosive atmosphere if mixed with air. Alcohol vapor monitoring is important in a distillery to protect personnel and infrastructure.
We recommend using ethanol gas sensors to reliably measure alcohol vapors. These sensors are also available with an ATEX certificate for EX zones and have a measuring range of 0…100% LEL. We recommend defining the pre-alarm at 20% LEL and switching on the ventilation or increasing its power at this concentration. In the event of a main alarm at 40% LEL, the room must be evacuated. This is indicated with audible and visible alarms.
