The new XGard IQ gas sensor from Crowcon impresses with its robust design and reliability in applications where compromises should not be made. The XGard IQ gas detector is designed for the measurement of a wide variety of combustible and toxic gases and oxygen monitoring. Thanks to its easily exchangeable, pre-calibrated gas sensors, it minimizes staff time in potentially explosive areas enormously. This means that hot work no longer has to be carried out in ATEX-protected rooms. The gas measuring cells can be exchanged without special tools and with just one step. The integrated display clearly shows the most important status information. In addition, clearly visible LEDs show whether the gas sensor is working safely.
The XGard IQ is a fixed gas detector for use in industries where reliability is paramount, such as petrochemical, oil exploration, gas exploration, water treatment, chemical plants, steel mills, pharmaceutical industry, food industry etc.

Flexible signal outputs
The XGard IQ gas sensor offers various output signal options. 4-20 mA signals (analog) and also RS485 Modbus are integrated as standard. Alarm relays and technical error relays with changeover contacts of 230V AC, 5A are also available. These can also be retrofitted at any time. HART communication can also be provided.
Improved safety
Due to the easily exchangeable gas sensor modules, the XGard IQ gas detector minimizes the time spent in potentially explosive areas. The sensors can be subjected to a speed bump test when installed. Calibration is also possible on the gas detector. The gas sensor modules can also be removed with just one hand within a few seconds and replaced with a pre-calibrated gas sensor module. It is also possible to perform the calibration in a safe place and reinstall the sensors afterwards. All settings and functions can be carried out quickly using the gas detector’s buttons. No special tools or special permits are required for hot work in potentially explosive locations (ATEX zones).
Robust and resistant
The XGard IQ is suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. It is ATEX and IECEx certified / Zone 1 and Zone 2, and is designed for long-lasting operation in extreme environmental conditions. The gas detector XGard IQ is very robust with a stainless steel 316 housing and can be used for a temperature range of -40 °C to +75 °C.
Installation without gas sensor module
If the XGard IQ gas detector is installed well in advance of the planned commissioning, we recommend installing the device without the gas sensor module. Thus, we avoid the possibility of the gas sensor expiring or being poisoned. In this case, a dummy sensor module is used in the gas detector to protect it from the ingress of water and dirt. The required sensor module is then delivered and installed for commissioning.
